Photocopied extracts from the Report by The Crofters Commision (1905) regarding applications by six crofters of Cornaigbeg and Kenovay to enlarge their land holdings into parts of Crossapol Farm tenanted by Thomas Barr, and applications by five crofters of Balinoe to extend their holdings into Heylipol Farm tenanted by Hugh MacDiarmid.

Notes regarding audio recordings made on Tiree in 1972 and 1974

Two folders of handwritten notes made by Eric Cregeen while he was recording Tiree people speaking onto cassette tape during 1972 and 1974, plus a map of Balephuil, Balinoe and Barrapol annotated with the names of people living in each house. People recorded in notes: Donald Sinclair, Hector Kennedy – Balephuil, John Brown – Balephuil, John MacLean – Kilmoluaig, John MacLean – Cornaigbeg. Subjects covered include ancestry, Gaelic prose and songs, people living nearby, second sight, place names, shebeens, building construction, poverty, weather, schools, food, shops, water supplies, emigrants, rents, skeleton, confrontations, ferries and ships, literacy, crofts, Pairc na Coille, wars, Land Leagues, churches, illnesses.

Photocopies of an envelope and hand-written letter of condolence from the Duke of Argyll to Mrs John (Margaret) MacKinnon, whose late husband was “the faithful ground officer” to the Duke`s grandfather “during a troubled period on Tiree”. Dated 4 May 1931.

Printed scan of an article from The Glasgow Herald dated 1886, about the dangerous method of transferring livestock, particularly horses, between Tiree and the ferry SS Hebridean. Article also mentions four of the imprisoned crofters of the Land Agitation liberated on bail.

Notice from the Edinburgh Gazette 1895 regarding Kilkenneth crofters to appear in Court.

Printed transcription of a notice from the Edinburgh Gazette 1895 announcing that the tenant farmer of Greenhill, Lachlan MacNeil, and the Duke of Argyll, require six Kilkenneth crofters to appear in Oban Sheriff Court for examination (probably regarding their illegal occupation of the land at Greenhill during the Land League aggitation). Crofters named are Neil Brown, John Campbell, Widow Alexander Kennedy, Colin MacIntyre, John MacDonald and Widow Neil MacKinnon.
