Digitised copy of the Rental of Maclean’s estate for 1662, 1671, 1672 and 1673, dated 1677.

Contains rents paid in money and victuals for Tiree. The first document contains rentals for the following townships in Tiree, with personal names included in the patronymic form: Kennibaigh (Kenovay), Barriboll (Barrapol), Balli-meanach (Middleton), Sauntaig (Sandaig), Crennall or Grennall (Greenhill), Ballivullin (Balevullin), Kilmuluag (Kilmoluaig), and Bist (Beist) for the year 1662. The remainder of the document records the rental of Morvern and Ross, and the yearly rental of Maclean’s estate for 1671, 1672 and 1673. Amounts of victuals are given in kaines, cheese, butter, wedders, veales, poultrie and corne.

Compact, leather-covered, Gaelic ‘Biobull / Bible’, produced by Comunn-Bhiobull Duthchail na h-Alba. On the inside front cover is written ‘Cornaig Sunday School. For Mary Ishbel MacDonald [Kenovay], with every good wish for the future, J Gillies, 28/8/46. John Gillies was the Church of Scotland Missionary on Tiree for 17 years (1937-1954), teaching Sunday School in Gaelic and English.

Belonging to Effie MacDonald (nee MacCorquodale), Kenovay, it is signed ‘Euphemia Cameron MacCorquodale, No. 8’.

Hardback book ‘Aids to Anatomy and Physiology – a complete textbook for the nurse’, 1948, belonging to Ishbel MacDonald of the MacDonald/MacCorquodale/MacLean family of Kenovay. Like many others from Tiree, Ishbel became a nurse at the Royal Infirmary in Glasgow.
