Photograph of Baugh House ca. 1900

Black & white photograph of Baugh House taken by Erskine Beveridge during 1896-1901. Built as the doctor`s house for Dr Buchanan, whose horse and trap is by the door. The original doctor`s `cottage` is beside the L-shaped barn. At the time, the doctor’s living was made from Baugh Farm. Baugh House is still used as the doctor`s residence.

Letters and genealogy relating to Kenneth Norman MacKenzie (1897-1951)

Letters from Malcolm MacKenzie, Greece, to Rev. Peter Williams, Balemartine, and Duncan Grant (An Iodhlann) asking for assistance in tracing his father`s (Kenneth Norman MacKenzie, Baugh, 1897-1951) Tiree family history, with information about the family. Kenneth MacKenzie was the grandson of Duncan MacFarlane, Heylipol, who became the Baptist Minister at Baugh in 1879. Kenneth became captain of Scott`s exploration ship `Discovery`.

Book “Family of Alexander McLean of Tiree”

Book about the family of Alexander McLean of Cornaigbeg (b.1809, d. 1885). Five of his 13 children and their children lived on the Maraekakaho property in New Zealand. Alexander`s first wife Catherine McLean, Kenovay, died after her 6th child (the drunk doctor set fire to her bed!). His second wife Flora MacKinnon, Baugh, bore him another 7 children. Includes pull-out A3 map of old Tiree.

Four photos and accompanying letters about Dr David Hunter, GP on Tiree during the 1930s

Four original black & white photographs of Dr David Hunter and his wife Margaret (nee Findlater), Baugh House and surgery, and a view from Middleton/Barrapol, during a holiday to Tiree in the late 1950s / early 60s (before 1964). Dr Hunter was the GP on Tiree during the 1930s and his wife was the nurse. The accompanying letters from his great-nephew, Allan Stephen, has further information. Photos accessioned separately as Q125-Q128.
