Petitioning for land in 1893
Letter to the Chairman of Argyll County Council from a group of cottars from Baugh, Scarinish and Heanish, all wanting to rent land under the Small Holdings Scotland Act of 1892. Cottars were poor, landless islanders who struggled to make a living. The Small Holdings Act allowed them to apply for croft land.
