Glass butter churn made around 1900 with metal handle and turning mechanism, and replacement wooden paddle. Last used by Mairi Campbell in the 1950s to make butter in the winter when the cows produced much less milk. The original paddle rotted and the replacement made by John Fletcher, Balemartine, in 2010. Spare replacement paddle included.

Pair of Dri-Pac boot driers
Pair of `Dri-Pac` linen sachets bound together with cotton tape for placing in boots to dry them out. Green text reads “Dri-Pac. Moisture absorbent. Overcomes the problems of foot moisture and condensation in all types of footwear”, with instructions on the back. Made by Dunlop Rubber Co. Ltd., Liverpool. Cream-coloured canvas briefcase with brown leather covered handle, hand-made by Alasdair Sinclair of Brock, and used by him on his near-daily visits to An Iodhlann where he was a key member of the committee until his death in 2009.

Copy the first Evening Times newspaper to be delivered to Tiree by aeroplane, 1929
Original copy of The Evening Times newspaper, July 18 1929. It was the first newspaper to be delivered to Tiree by aeroplane. Front page states “Delivered in Tiree by Aeroplane” with an article about the delivery and passengers. The newspaper was initially kept on display in the Thatched Cottage Museum, Sandaig, until its closure and sale in 2010. The plastic sleeve is the original from the museum with a label that reads “Read all about it”.
