Composition “The Story of Elizabeth Crow and Murdoch McQuarie”
Composition about the life and family history of Elizabeth Crow (1860-1883) who came to live at Hynish with her lighthouse-keeper father and mother, at the age of 15. In 1880, she had an illegitimate daughter by Murdoch McQuarie, the eldest son of Lachlan McQuarie, tacksman of Hynish Farm. The McQuarie family would not allow their son to marry Elizabeth. Written by her great niece in 2011.

Suggested identification for pottery `Mystery Object`
Handwritten suggestion for the identification of a large piece of pre-historic pottery drilled with holes. Possibly used as a bee hive, the holes being made for ventilation. Includes drawing and typed transcription. Relates to pottery fragment found by C MacDonell at Salum in 2009 (see 2010.35.1).

Photograph and information about a spinning wheel, hand-made by Hugh MacInnes, possibly Tiree. It was given to a young bride from Lochgilphead and passed down through the “Campbell women” to modern times, and now in the possession of Mrs Campbell, Dollar. Includes a letter regarding the spinning wheel from Rev. Ray Gaston, Dollar, to An Iodhlann, 2011, and a responding letter, and a letter from the owner Mrs Jennifer Campbell, Dollar, and responding letter, 2011. (See also photo P124)

Wood cabinet containing a list of the crew of HMS Sturdy in 1940
Hand-made oak cabinet containing lists of the crew of the destroyer HMS Sturdy when is was wrecked on rocks at Sandaig in October 1940, and photographs of the grave stones of five members of the crew that were drowned. Brass plates on the lid are engraved with “HMS Sturdy” and “The Ships Company 1940”. Made by Lt. Cdr. Mike Gibson in 2011 to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the disaster in Oct. 2010, and presented by Mrs Cooper and Mike Gibson to the people of Tiree in recognition of their assistance to the crew at the time.
