Strike-a-light.
Hand-held steel striker used to produce a spark from a flint which would hopefully ignite brown paper dampened with water and sprinkled with sulphur or saltpetre. Made in a local smiddy, it was used by pipe smokers in the 1940s when matches were scarce.
