Hugh MacLeod of Cornaigbeg talks to Maggie Campbell in November 2005 about the family of James Galbraith who was born in Gigha, and came with his family from Rothiemurchus, near Aviemore, to Balevullin to take the position of Head of the Parochial School at Balevullin in 1874. His daughter married into the MacDonald family of Kilmoluaig.

Black and white photograph of John MacKinnon (b. 1850-1), Kilmoluaig.

John MacKinnon of Kilmoluaig (b.1859), he was brother of Dougall and Hector MacKinnon, the owners of the schooner `Coll Castle`. Married to a Cameron from Crossapol, he went to North Uist where he owned a small hotel. He had two sons and one daughter. He died aged about 40 and his remains were interred in Soroby.

John MacKinnon of Kilmoluaig (1885-1962) and Catherine MacNeill of Main Road Farm, Balephuil (1888-1953) on their wedding day in Glasgow around 1925. John was the son of Hector MacKinnon and his wife Mary Lamont. As an ex-service man in the Merchant Navy during World War I, he was allocated the croft at 34 Balephetrish where he and his wife built their home. They had no family. Both are buried in Soroby.

Three recordings of the BBC children`s programme `De a-nis` broadcast 1995-1996: (1) Allan Campbell of Kilmoluaig demonstrating wind-surfing; (2) Allan Campbell of Kilmoluaig wind-surfing, playing football at the school and playing the bagpipes; (2) Michael Holliday of Baugh playing table tennis with his mother Clare Jones, football with his father Dr John Holliday and at school and table football with his mother. (Each clip is 4-6 minutes long) The first programme has a 30 minute section about the history of Scottish bagpipes.
