Handwritten letter from Gerald Stock dated 10/2/98, concerning Duncan MacLean who was killed during a German U-boat attack on the SS Scottish Monarch in WWI, and whose parents lived at Gott. Mr Stock was put in touch with Les Crawte, Milton, who produced the Tiree Roll of Honour.
DVD of TV programme Cairdeas Cogaidh in Gaelic and English, featuring Prof. Donald Meek documenting the life and death of his relative, John MacDonald of Caoles, and John ‘Jock’ Stewart who served with John MacDonald in France when John was killed in action in 1917. Donald begins with papers kept in his family’s home in Caoles for 100 years, then travels to John’s grave in France, and on to Africa where Jock lived and worked as a vet.
Hardback book ‘Dr Elsie Inglis’, ca. 1920, a biography written by Lady Frances Balfour, the sister of the Duke of Argyll, and owned by Katie MacKinnon, Lodge Farm, Kirkapol. Inscribed inside is “To John, in memory of Elsie MacKinnon, Kirkapol”. Dr Inglis herself (1864-1917) did not have any links to Tiree. Chapters of the book include her ancestry, studies, London and Dublin, politics, faith, war and Scottish women, Serbia and Russia, covering the period 1740-1917. She died from a severe illness shortly after arriving back in Britain.

On the marriage certificate, John Lamont is recorded as living at 129 Blackburn St., Plantation. Maggie MacCuaig is recorded as Domestic Servant at the same address.
In the 1881 census, which was taken a few months prior to the marriage, John Lamont is recorded as a boarder living at 129 Blackburn St., Plantation (the same address as when married), who was born on Tyree.
