The transcript contains a Medical Report by Dr John McNab (Bunessan), a Police Report by John McFarlane (Constable) and a Petition by William Sproat, Procurator Fiscal.

Transcript of a Police Report submitted to Tobermory Procurator Fiscal regarding the death of Niel McCallum from an accidental shotgun wound in January 1861. McCallum (aged 31, blacksmith, Balinoe) was injured by Alexander MacDonald (fisherman, Balemartin) at Loch-an-Duine (Loch an Dùin) on Kenovay Farm. Statements are provided from:

Transcript of a Police Report and Precognition of Witnesses regarding the sudden deaths of John Mcdonald, Lachlan Macdonald, Donald McDonald, John Orr and John McLean in April 1860.

The men left Manal on 27 April 1860 to fish ‘Relstay fishing bank’ near Stevenson’s Rock (described as four miles south west of the Skerryvore Lighthouse) on the fishing skiff ‘Father & Sons’. They were likely capsized whilst attempting to return home the following morning.

Transcript of an Inventory of Precognition regarding the sudden death of Allan Brown in 1859. Allan Brown, aged 9, drowned in a boating accident in Salum bay while playing truant from school. The report mentions the boys finding a small fishing yawl at the end of the bay at ‘Salum loch’, and that the yawl floated toward ‘Ellen a Ghrewer’ (possibly Eilean nan Gobhar).

Campbell had been engaged to marry Flora McInnes (Tiree). The report was submitted by John MacFarlane, Constable, and contains statements from:

Transcript of a Police Report submitted to Tobermory Procurator Fiscal by Finlay Fraser (D.C., Tiree) regarding the discovery of a body on the shore of Sandaig. The body was possibly one of the crew of the smack Swan of Belfast, which was wrecked on 10^th January 1860, and was likely the body of George Murray (Captain, Swan of Belfast).
