Scale model of a dipping lug-sail boat the ‘Islean Thiriodh’ built for David Hepburn, Scarinish and Oban, by an “old” east coast fisherman, and based on David’s boat the ‘Eilean Thiriodh’ which was built by Colin Evans, Barcaldine, in 1998. The Eilean Thiriodh won several races in the Tiree Regattas.
Collection of 36 original colour photographs, including the Reading Room and first exhibitions, Whitehouse Cattle Show, houses Taigh a’ Bhochdainn and Lag nan Cruach before renovation, ploughing demonstration, Tiree district nurses, Tiree football team ca. 1999. Most are catalogued separately (see 2018.54.5 – 27).
Coloured photograph of two men from Clachan, Cornaig, creel-fishing off the north coast of Tiree, near the Ringing Stone. The photo was found in ‘The Captain’s House’ in Cornaigbeg, and is printed from a hand-painted glass slide.
Black & white photograph of a small yacht named ‘Tiree Wind’ at Findhorn in the 1920s. The yacht probably belonged to the family of Marion MacLean Brodie (b. 1854), who was the daughter of Lachlan MacLean, Kilmoluaig, and Catherine MacLean, Grianal (Greenhill). From a large photo album embossed with G.I.B. belonging to Marion’s daughter, Georgie.

Printed information about the family of Bata Am Marsanta from the censuses of 1851-1901. Bata Am Marsanta was one of the boats belonging to Archibald MacKinnon ‘Am Marsanta Ban’ (1796-1880) caught up in the Balephuil fishing disaster of 1856.
