Includes Captain Hugh MacLean of Tiree, who was awarded the DSC for bravery during the attack whilst serving on the SS Dan-y-Bryn. Also includes details of decorated seamen from other Hebridean islands and a photocopied page from “The War in Pictures, Fourth Year” (Oldham Press, London) describing the battle.

Drilled rock core of Lewisian gneiss from site of proposed community turbine at Ruaig sliabh obtained during survey work. Bore hole no. R3, depth 3.10 metres. Sampled by W Whitelaw, Land-Drill Geotechnics Ltd, on 07/10/08. Polished with beeswax.
