Transcript of a Police Report into the alleged theft of a horse from The Glebe, in July 1868. The report, written by Duncan Cameron (Constable, Tiree), reports that a horse belonging to the Minister’s servant was missing, and that it had been in the habit of going to Balephetrish House and Gott Farm.
Transcript of a Police Report submitted to Tobermory Procurator Fiscal by John MacDougall (Constable) regarding the loss of the smack Mary and Catherine of Tyree, on 3 September 1873. The Mary and Catherine was owned by James MacFadyen (Scarinish) and was wrecked at Freslan (possibly Friesland) near Arinagour in the Isle of Coll while coming from Ardnamurchan with sheep belonging to Thomas Barr (farmer, Balephetrish) and John Paterson (shepherd, Tiree).
Photocopies of (1) a cartoon and photographs from an Australian newspaper, 1930, featuring Captain Kenneth Norman MacKenzie (1897-1951), Master of the ‘Discovery’, and his crew depicted as penguins, (2) newspaper articles about the voyage of the ‘Discovery’, and (3) a family tree showing connections between Kenneth MacKenzie and MacFarlanes of Balinoe, MacKinnons of Vaul and MacKinnons of Balephetrish. Kenneth’s great-great-grandfather was William MacFarlane (1777-1863), tenant at Balinoe.

Geekie’s wife Ann Campbell (1844-1918) was 1st cousin to Colina Georgina McLean Campbell, Balephetrish (1841-1930), wife of Doctor Alexander Buchanan, Baugh. Ann was the daughter of Donald Campbell Tacksman of Reef & Ulva. Colina was the daughter of Colin Campbell (Cailean Mhor) of Coll. Colin bought the two ends of Coll and owned the farms of Cornaig & Caolis. Both Colin Campbell (1798-1867) and Donald Campbell (1801-1884) were sons of Niel Campbell, Tacksman of Sunipol (1769-c1854).
