Copy of a handwritten transcript of a court case against Effie MacDonald (nee MacKinnon) of Erabus, Ardtun, (Ross of Mull?) dates 2 July 1860, who was prosecuted for repeatedly stealing peats from stacks belonging to Gilbert MacDonald, Balemartine, and James MacLean, Balemartine, on the Ardtun Moss on Friday the 22nd of ?. On 13th July 1860, at Tobermory, Effie was found guilty of theft and sentenced to 6 days of (?).

Photocopies of Captain Donald MacKinnon`s Certificate of Competency at Master (seaman) level 1851, his Ordinary Certificate 1851, Application to be examined 1851, List of Testimonials and Statement of Service (1851?), and List of Officers of the Royal Naval Reserve 1864. Donald MacKinnon (1827-1867) captained the winning tea clipper `Taeping` during the Great China Tea Race of 1866. Includes a letter from `K.D.` to Flora MacLean, Druimfraoich, dated 3/1/2009? regarding the documents.
Handwritten Will of Hector MacDonald (b.1850?) of Balemartine, dated 11 Sept. 1922, leaving his entire estate to his daughter Annie MacDonald. Written at Heylipol Manse in the presence of the Rev. Alexander MacBean and witnessed by Isabella MacBean (housewife) and Jessie Macnab (district nurse). Hector was a fisherman, worked in MacQuarrie`s shop in Hynish and was a respected leader of the Land Leagues. Also known as `Eachann MacNeill` and `Eachann a` Chaise` / Hector son of Neill and Hector the Cheese (from the shop). (Accession includes a photocopy)

Merchant Seaman`s Continuous Certificate of Discharge belonging to Walter Hume (b. 1899) of Glasgow, recording the names of the ships on which he served, his engagement and discharge dates (1920 to 1923), his rating (sailor), description of voyage (Montreal, Portland, Halifax), report of character (always very good), signature of ship`s Master and date. Includes description but no photo. Next of kin given as Father John, Hillipol, Tiree (John William Hume b.1867, farm manager of Heylipol farm). Small blue-canvas bound booklet. Found in the loft of Millport House, Hynish in 2011.
