Transcript of a letter from Rev Neil MacLean, Gott, in 1851 to his sister-in-law, the widow of Alexander MacLean, telling of the sudden death of “our dear Donald”, the affect on his mother and the funeral.

Book `Turus a` Chriosduidh` / ` Pilgrims progress` in Gaelic by John Bunyan, 1877.
Heavy, calf-skin bound, hardback book belonging to Lachlan MacKinnon, Hillcrest. On the inside cover is an ornately hand-drawn name plate `John McCallum` with the date cut from the top of a newspaper `Saturday, March 3, 1877`. John McCallum may have been the husband of Mrs McCallum (Monica Smith`s grandmother) that Lachlan MacKinnon drove to bible meetings. Includes a photocopy of a torn loose-leaf A3 drawing of `Bunyan`s Dream` that is stored separately in filing cabinet 9 drawer 4 (2013.61.2).

Long-handled, ornate, silver/silver-plated (?) button hook used by ladies to lace up their long ankle boots.
Old glass `Schweppe` bottle
Tall, round-bottomed glass bottle found in the dump behind Baugh Surgey in 2012. Pale clear glass with large raised lettering all around bottle reading “J.Schweppe & Co., 51 Berners Street, Oxford Street, genuine superior, aerated waters”. Probably used for administering medicines.

Large hardback book “they came to mara…” published in 2011 about Tiree and Coll emigrants to Mara Township in Ontario, Canada, during 1829-1900.
Plunger butterchurn
Vertical plunger churn or `lanaid` for buttermaking in the late 1860s to 1950s. Cylindrical and made of wood bound with metal hoops, with wooden plunger rod and lid. This design was used all over Tiree until the smaller glass churns of the 1950s took their place.
This butter churn belonged to John Brown of Balephuil before passing to the Findlater family. The plunger was repaired by Norman McIver.
