Two goffering irons

One small and one medium sized goffering irons used for pressing pleats into fabric. These would have been used in conjunction with appropriately sized pokers which would have first been heated in the fire before being inserted into the irons to heat them.

Pot chain from a ruined house at The Land, Barrapol

Black-painted metal pot chain / slàbhraidh found in the chimney of a ruined thatched house (Tigh Thearlaich Bhruin) at The Land, Barrapol. Given to Ailean Boyd by William MacNeill (Uilleam an Tailleir). Includes a note handwritten by Ailean Boyd in 1972.

Ring-binder file folder of typed text, diagrams and hand-written notes about the use and care of ammunitions during WWII. Used by trainees taking courses. Subjects include; pyrotechnics demolition, explosives, pistol revolver, rifle, cameras, workshops. Hand-written on inside front cover is “A.R. Rodger, 45 Course, 6 Squad.
