Also a letter from the author to Dr John Holliday, Sept.2010, along with a separate typed transcript of the article. HMS Sturdy was wrecked off Sandaig in Oct 1940 with the loss of five lives. Derek Fox`s grandfather, Ernest Fox was one of the survivors.

Includes gravestones at Soroby Cemetery, B Greenshields laying a wreath, site of wreck, “the Sturdy Bell”, Elean and David Allison holding the Sturdy Bell, Sturdy plaque, and view of Sandaig from the wreck site. Also a letter from B Greenshields to Polly and Duncan `Cèabhar` thanking them for their hospitality.

Information about Lieutenant Commander Erick Naslund, Shipping – Tiree, 1941-42
An account of Lieutenant Commander Erick Naslund, who was the Royal Navy Shipping Officer on Tiree during 1941-42. He was responsible for dealing with shipwrecks in the area during WWII, and for preventing looting. He and his family lived in the school house in Scarinish. Written by his daughter. Also emails between An Iodhlann and Brian Harris. The wreck of HMS Sturdy at Sandaig in October 1940 with the loss of 5 lives, may have catalysed sending a Shipping Officer to Tiree.
