Information about Australian Flight Officer Thomas Stephens who died in an air collision on Tiree in 1944.

Notices from Australian newspaper `The Argus` in September 1944, about the death of FO. Thomas Stephens who was killed in the mid-air collision between to Halifax aircraft over Tiree in 1944; information about Stephens from the Commonwealth War Graves website; photocopy of a notice in `Vetaffairs` 2012 seeking relatives and friends of Thomas Stephens and the crew of HMS Sturdy.

Janette Cameron reading a Gaelic translation of Alice Atkins` recollections of the shipwreck of the SS Laristan at Hough in 1942. Janette (daughter of Murdoch & Eilidh Cameron) later performed the reading at the 2000 Mod. Poor quality recording, not digitised.

Inventory of the George Holleyman collection held at An Iodhlann 2013

Printed list of numbered items in the George Holleyman collection of artefacts, photographs, manuscripts and notebooks, held at An Iodhlann. Copy included at the start of the G Holleyman collection file folder. George Holleyman FSA was an archaeologist who was stationed at RAF Tiree during WWII. He carried out significant amounts of pioneering archaeological work in Sussex  during the first half of the 20th century, along with Drs. Eliot and Cecil Curwen. He was made a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries  in 1949.

Photograph of harvesting at Ailig MacArthur`s croft in August 2012

Colour photograph of baling in mid-August 2012 in excellent conditions on Ailig a` Chiobair`s (MacArthur) croft at Heylipol. Looking east from Taigh Dhonnchadh Dhomhnall Bhain at Ceosabh (now Bruce & Francis Kemps). This whole crofting operation was carried out in 2 days whereas over 50 years ago the former type of harvesting in this field would be undertaken over a period of 4 months through the various stages of harvesting. Original stored in filing cabinet 10 drawer 1.

Newspaper page with mention of Dr Angus MacNiven and Donald Meek, 2012

Page from The Scotsman newspaper in 2012 mentioning Dr Angus MacNiven in an article about a planned film about RD Laing (eminent British psychiatrist). Dr MacNiven had connections with the farm occupied by “Bell Bheag” today. On the reverse is a letter to the editor by Prof. Donald Meek, Caolas, criticising the proposed Teaching Quality Assesment (TQA). Includes photocopies of both articles.
