Two large, well worn books titled ‘Songs of the Hebrides, volume 1’ and ‘More Songs of the Hebrides’ belonging to Sidney Herbert Sime (1865-1941), who was an English artist best known for his satirical artwork during the late Victorian period. One copy is signed S H Sime on an inner page, while the other is embossed S.H.S. on the cover.
Newspaper cutting advertising the private sale of the whole of Tiree by the 10th Duke of Argyll in 1951, with images of Island House and Balephuil Bay. The island was not sold, and remained in the property of the Dukes of Argyll.

White dinner plate marked with ‘RAF’ under a blue crown, made by W Adams and Sons, England. Used in NAAFI canteens on Tiree during WWII.
Poem by Flora MacPhail, Ruaig, about a Harris Tweed jacket made by Dugald MacArthur, Sliabh, Balephuil in around 1940. In Gaelic with an English translation. It was worn by Jamie MacDonald, Ruaig, on TV for the Scots Trad Music Awards in 2018.

Copy of the Swiss magazine Passé Simple containing an article (in French) about RAF airman Léonard Revilliod, one of the 16 flight crew who lost their lives in a mid-air collision over Island House in 1944. Léonard was the grandson of the first President of Czechoslovakia, and served with 518 Squadron based on Tiree. Written by Denis Dumoulin in 2020.

Photograph of Donald Quintin Campbell’s notice of employment by the GPO, commencing at Scarinish in October 1947. Donald was one of Tiree’s first and longest-serving GPO engineers.
