Signed by all members of the crew, including Pilot Officer Charles McLean (1917-1941), son of Donald Archibald McLean, Kenovay.  80% of those pictured perished during WWII. Their surnames are written on the back of the photo. Charles (2nd row from back, 3rd from left) went missing in action over the English Channel in November 1941. Black & white photograph of Charles McLean, Linlithgow (1917-1941), eldest child of Donald Archibald McLean, Kenovay, and Euphemia Terris Stoddart. Charles went missing in action during WWII while serving with the RAF as a Pilot Officer with No. 3 and No. 217 Squadrons. He was known to his family and friends as Charlie, Chatta and Jock. A collection of items kept by his family, particularly many letters to, from and about him, are archived at An Iodhlann. Three medals from a large collection of items belonging to and about Donald Archibald McLean, Kenovay (1890-1981), and his family. Left to Right: the Atlantic Star, the Defence Medal and the 1939-1945 Star, which were awarded for services during WWII (the ribbons are in the wrong order). The Defence Medal was awarded to Donald Archie McLean for services in the Police Force. The two Stars were awarded post-humously to his son, Charles MacLean, for his services in the RAF. He went missing in action over the English Channel in November 1941.
