Original NHS Medical Card and postal delivery envelope, belonging to John MacLean, The Brae, Cornaigbeg, stamped 20 August 1948, with GP given as Dr D G Hunter. This card was issued when the NHS was first formed. Includes photocopy of both items.
Whole coconut found on the shore at Hynish by Alec Hector MacDonald in winter 2009/2010 and given to John Bowler. Coconuts drift up the Gulf Stream from the Caribbean and occasionally wash up on Tiree`s shores after westerly gales.
`Winged bullet` brevet of RAF aerial gunners during WWII
Brass badge depicting a bullet with wings that was worn on the upper arm of the right sleeve by RAF Aerial Gunner Stan `Lofty` Weatherill who served on Tiree during WWII. The `winged bullet` brevet was replaced in December 1939 by the Air Gunners brevet of 12 feathers and letters AG surounded by a laurel wreath. Donated in a black plastic case with information by Lofty`s wife Barbara Weatherill.
