Six letters and documents regarding the registration of Lodge Farm, Kirkapol with the Scottish Land Court and subsequent transfer of tenancy from John MacKinnon to his daughter Elsie MacKinnon in 1955. Documents are from Argyll Estates, Hosack & Sutherland, Solicitors, Oban, and the Scottish Land Court.
Writing slate used at Ruaig School in the 1920s-1930s
Writing slate used by Elsie MacKinnon, Kirkapol, at the Ruaig School in the 1920s-1930s. Much like a roofing slate, children could write on them using a slate pencil and erase their work by rubbing.
Needle case for pins and needles used in Cornaig School sewing classes.
Small brown leather wallet for keeping needles and pins. Contains 23 needles of various sizes and functions. Inner `page` reads: “This need case contains Abel Morrall`s needles. Over a century`s reputation one quality only the best. Cross fox trademark. Made in England”. Used in Cornaig School sewing classes.
Three round, lilac, pearlised buttons from the Tiree Knitwear Factory, Crossapol, that operated between 1982 and 1985(?). Collected by Elsie MacKinnon, Kirkapol. Identical to 1999.53.1 pictured.
Brown metal buckle belonging to Elsie MacKinnon, Kirkapol. Ornate. Shows a shield or crest bearing three roses and a star, and the words “distribute chirfullie”.
Pair of spectacles worn by Elsie MacKinnon, Kirkapol, when she was 18 years old in 1930s. Round lenses of 4cm diameter in brown and yellow frames. Dark blue/black spectacle case bearing manufacturer`s name: “E. Parry or E. Pass, Jewellers, Glasgow.
Tobacco tin – Ogden`s St Bruno Flake. Manufactured by The Imperial Tobacco Company (of Great Britain and Ireland). Belonged to Mrs MacDugal (wife of the Head Master of Cornaig High School) who gave the tin containing a sewing kit, to Elsie MacKinnon, Kirkapol, 1925-1930.
