Gray of Canada, grandson of Mr & Mrs Donald MacFarlane who lived at Taigh-na-Mara, Balemartine. One letter is to the Headteacher of Cornaigmore Secondary School offering a copy of the second letter addressed to the Canadian War Graves Commission regarding the graves of Canadian airmen on the island, and his enclosed composition `Significance of the Tiree Air Base during the second World War`.

Information and news articles about Flying Officer Ian Lachlan MacFadyen (1924-1945) of Ontario, Canada, who died when the plane he was piloting crashed in Ireland during WWII. His father Alexander MacFadyen emigrated from Tiree in the early 1900s with his brothers. Alexander`s parents were Lachlan MacFadyen, Barrapol, and Isabella McDonald, Kirkapol.
Letter from Mrs Hilary Sigmund to Dr John Holliday suggesting that Leonard Revilliod was not Czech and did not fly with the Czech air force. His grandfather was Czech President Tomas Masaryk who married an American. Their daughter Olga was brought up as a Unitarian, married ? Revilliod and gave birth to Leonard, who may also have been brought up Unitarian. Leonard Revilliod was flying with RAF Tiree when his plane collided with another in 1944 over Tiree, with the loss of all 16 airmen on both aircraft.

Collection of 23 colour photographs taken in 2008 by B Greenshields, son of F Greenshields who was one of the five sailors who died while escaping HMS Sturdy when it foundered on rocks off Sandaig in October 1940. Includes gravestones at Soroby Cemetery, B Greenshields laying a wreath, site of wreck, “the Sturdy Bell”, Elean and David Allison holding the Sturdy Bell, Sturdy plaque, and view of Sandaig from the wreck site. Also a letter from B Greenshields to Polly and Duncan `Cèabhar` thanking them for their hospitality.

Small notebook containing handwritten record of names and amount given towards the upkeep of Sorobie Cemetery between 1908 and 1954. Names include: Donald Lamont (The Land, father of Mary lamont, Mod Gold Medalist), Donald Campbell (“the ban”, grandfather of Alasdair Sinclair Greenhill “Alasdair beag na Cachala”), Gilleasbuig Campbell (his borther), Donald MacLean, Balinoe (his nickname Donald a` Tommy was to do with his hat, great uncle of Willie MacLean, Balinoe), John MacDonald, Sandaig (“Beegee”). Also a small type-written note informing subscribers of Argyll County Council`s failure to keep the cemetery in an orderly state and the need to revive the subscriptions system. The notebook was evidently passed around between subscribers.
