Colour photograph of Duncan MacPhail of Balephuil, and Campbell descendent, Sharon Clayton of Canada, outside the house of piper John Campbell (b. ca 1860), who was the son of Archibald Campbell (b.1833) and Cath Brown of Islay. See 2013.134.1 for further information.
Thanks to Flo Straker for confirming (in April 2021) that John Brown Campbell belongs on Sharon Clayton’s family tree. John’s father Archibald Campbell was the next oldest sibling of my GG Grandmother Sarah (Marion in Gaelic) CAMPBELL MacRae.
Cath Brown was Archibald’s first wife. John Brown Campbell was their only child. Archibald’s second wife was Mary Anne Black. Archibald’s mother Mary MacMILLAN Campbell and Mary Ann’s mother was Catherine MacMILLAN Black. They had 5 children. Their youngest daughter Mary Flora Campbell married the blacksmith Donald MacKinnon. Their family immigrated to Hawke’s Bay, New Zealand in the 1920s.
