Before `roll-on roll-off` ferries
A transit van being hoisted from the deck of the ferry `MV Claymore` onto Gott Bay pier around 1962-1964. Until the linkspan was built in 1992, all vehicles, cargo and sometimes livestock were transferred to and from the ferry in this way.
