Thomas Barr`s bell
Tom Barr was originally from Argyll. He came with his father to Tiree in 1864 when the family became the Duke of Argyll`s tenants at Balephetrish Farm. Tom introduced heavier workhorses to the island and instigated the Agricultural Show to improve the quality of livestock through competition between crofters. The bell was rung to notify the farm hands of working times.
