The Ringing Stone in 1925

There are various theories about the purpose of the cup-shaped hollows on the Ringing Stone, but it may be that they were simply for grinding bait for fishing. There is a perfect natural harbour nearby, and one can imagine fishermen standing in a circle around the stone preparing bait before setting off together in their small boats.
