The Green, Kilmoluaig.

Since publishing this photo, we were pleased to receive the following message from John McLean whose family stayed at The Green until the 1990s:

The Green has much altered since my early days when there was no electricity, no gas, no running water…..

Many of the out buildings have gone, the drying green appears no longer in use, fencing around houses increased, only two houses on the top row….

In the photograph :-
House 1 can’t be seen but part of the outer surrounding wall is there – this was my grandfather’s sister’s home > her daughter > her grandson.

House 2 has extended its fencing somewhat – this was the MacDougall home.

House 3 now has a small outer wall – this was the MacLean home from < 1840 (Had to move earlier from behind Ben Hough).

The houseless gap was there <1948 and then a row of 6+ houses down to the rock shore – the last one a roofless ruin covered in grass.

My grandmother died 1946 in Glasgow, my grandfather died 1948 at The Green.
