Spinning in Barrapol in the 1920s

Many women on Tiree had spinning wheels to make their own wool from the fleeces of sheep. Christina MacKinnon of Ard na Fuarain, however, spun her own cotton thread from the white, fluffy heads of bog cotton, which grows on the sliabh (heath).
