Donald was the son of John McKinnon and Mary Catherine Lamont. Donald married (24 Jan 1865) Ann McLean from Torosay, Isle of Mull and they had 11 children: Hector, Mary, John, Marion, Margeret, Catherine, Charles, Malcolm, Donald, John (sic), Duncan MacFarlane. John was a driver for Lady Victoria Campbell who called him “faithful John”. Duncan gave his pipes to Hugh MacArthur to take to WW1. Hector became Rev. Hector.
