How you download an image and what type of permission you may need depends on your intended use, whether personal, non-commercial or commercial.

Most images that are © An Iodhlann are available under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0)licence.

Cost

There is no cost for the non-commercial use of images. However, An Iodhlann welcomes donations towards the costs of photographing the collection and providing the free image service. We receive no public funding and depend on charitable donations. Make a donation

Commercial use

Please email us regarding commercial use including but not limited to printed publications, press and TV

Privately commissioned genealogical books are deemed commercial if a fee was charged by the author/researcher.

Size

We can email you higher resolution images

Not all objects in our collection have been photographed, and some images may not be of commercial quality. Email us with requests for new photography.
