Transferring from pier to ferry pre-1910s
The `lighter` boat carrying about 20 people out to the ferry waiting off Scarinish Harbour. Before the Gott Bay pier was built in the 1910s, passengers, livestock and cargo had to be transferred by rowing boat to and from the ferry, a perilous business in rough seas.
