The Defence Medal (1939-1945) was presented to all volunteers of the Tiree Home Guard who helped defend Tiree`s shores, and therefore Britain, during the Second World War. This medal belonged to Alexander Campbell of Millport House, Hynish, and was accompanied by a certificate and letter of thanks from his King and Country.
