The building in the middle was originally built as a church then used intermittently as a prison and latterly as a store by the owners of the cargo ship `Mary Stewart`. The building was pulled down to make roads during World War II. The Scarinish Hotel is on the extreme right of the picture, whilst the Scarinish lighthouse is on the left edge.
