Haystacks at Druimfhraoich croft, Kenovay, in the 1940s

The stacks were built by hand at the end of the summer. Once the hay was dry, it was taken to a stackyard by the croft house, where it was built into larger stacks and fastened down by nets to protect it against winter gales.
