Scale of salaries for staff of the Royal Bank of Scotland, 1970

Photocopy of a scale of salaries for staff working at the Royal Bank of Scotland on Tiree from April 1970. There are three scales for `Male` staff (A-C) and one scale for `Female`. The femal scale is equal to band A (the lowest scale for men) until age 22, when it falls behind by increasing amounts as the female gets older.

Mary MacKinnon, Parkhouse, and Rosemary Omand, Kenovay, are interviewed by Dr John Holliday at An Iodhlann on 9th Dec. 2013, about the history of banking on Tiree since its beginnings in 1949 in the Old Reading Room to Rosemary`s retirement in 2013. Topics include the layout of the building in the Reading Room, lack of infrastructure and sanitation, Mary`s exam for her job at the bank in 1951 and her contract, staffing, training, what happened before the bank, built by Hugh MacDonald, Rosemary`s start in 1970 and promotion to Manager in 1997, uniforms, balancing the cash, double keys, accounting, inspections, converting accounts, calculating interest etc, cheques, Mary`s retirement at age 55, bank managers, `Mobile` Banking, and cleaners.
