I attended this opening day with my Family, known as the Whytes (Lower Square) . Not sure of my age but I remember making an “H” with sand for the Duke’s helicopter to land behind the Lower Square houses, then having a seat in the Helicopter. The site where the foundation template for Skerryvore was situated. Used as I have been told to dress the Lighthouse stonework, checked for size before shipping out to the site of the Lighthouse. I also remember the Duke reading the same page from his speach twice. Much to my amusement. I believe the date to be 1100 A.M. Thursday July 19th 1984
